Leo Cook of Lindsay is missing in air operations overseas. The 22-year old Observer is the son of Mrs. W. Cook and the late Mr. W. Cook, of Georgina Street. Leo had been overseas for almost a year and had taken part in many air operations. It is believed, although not confirmed, that he was shot down over France or Germany. Leo was born and educated, in Lindsay and was probably one of the best known boys here, as far as sports are concerned. Leo was a member of Lindsay Junior hockey teams way back, when he was about 16 or 17. The boy was fast and tricky; he had a shot that had most goalies wishing they had never played the position that they did. Leo was one of the big cogs, when Lindsay had a couple of good hockey teams in'37 and '38. No matter what he did, he was sure to get a burst of applause from the fans because they went for him in a big way. He was also a good outfielder in the Town Softball League, playing with the Jones Boys, Stephensons and many others. He has one brother, Tommy, who is serving with the 45th Battery, and two sisters, Leona and Catherine at home.
