J.R. Dart of Haliburton, Ontario enlisted for service with the Canadian Army on 6 August 1942 at Toronto, Ontario.

He entered the Canadian Armoured Corps as a tank driver and had the rank of Trooper.

Trp. Dart took his basic training at Orillia, Ontario and Advanced training at Camp Borden, Ontario. He was moved in Canada from Toronto to Orillia, Camp Borden, Owen Sound and Halifax (N.S.).

Tpr. Dart was sent overseas on 14 May 1943.

After further training in England and Scotland, Tpr Dart advanced with the army against the enemy on 17 June 1944.

Tpr Dart’s training included that for Tank Driver, Cook, Rifleman, and Bren Gunner.

He transferred while in the service to the 7th Canadian Reconnaissance Regiment.

Trooper Dart was accidently wounded while on service in France. He arrived home from overseas on 25 December 1945. As of 15 February 1946 he had not yet received his discharge.
