Pte. David Lloyd Eggleton, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Eggleton, King St. East, has paid the supreme sacrifice and was killed in action in France, according to official information received here Saturday. Several months ago Pte. Earl Dean, a son-in-law was killed in an accident in England and his young widow (formerly May Eggleton) is not an enthusiastic member of the RCAF and is at present home on leave. Two other sons, George and John Eggleton are serving with the Canadian Army overseas. Pte. David Eggleton was born and raised in Lindsay, getting his public school education here. He enlisted early in the war with the Argyle and Sutherland Highlanders and went overseas in August 1943. He was killed in action on August 9th. Five brothers and two sisters also survive. Lindsay citizens join in extending sympathy to Mr. and Mrs. Eggleton in their bereavement. Mr. Eggleton is a veteran of World War No. 1 and still bears the scars of the battle, as he was a shrapnel casualty.
