Omemee man’s son reported to be missing

Pte. Bruce Fairfield unaccounted for as of July 28

Enlisting in June 1941, and going overseas in October 1942, after training on the West coast and in Quebec, Pte. Bruce Fairfield, son of Walter Fairfield and the late Mrs. Fairfield, Omemee, has been officially reported missing in action July 28, according to word received here by his sister, Mrs. E. Berry, 25 Romaine Street.

The first word that her brother was in action was the telegram stating he was missing, according to Mrs. Berry, and she said she will not give up hope that Pte. Fairfield is safe.

Formerly a farm worker on his father’s farm at Omemee, the 27-year-old soldier was born in Minden, but moved to Omemee soon after. He was serving with the Royal Highlands and Light Infantry in France.
