William Edward Fletcher of Lindsay enlisted in the Canadian Army on 16 June 1941. He had the rank of Lieutenant on enlistment and served as Adjutant in the Infantry Training Centre at Yarmouth (N.S.) and as Guard Officer at Internment Camps in Canada.
Lieut Fletcher served in several centres in this work and was promoted to Captain on 1 March 1943. Captain Fletcher was given his discharge from the Army on 9 August 1944.
Captain Fletcher whose prewar duties were Organist and Music Teaching has returned to them in Lindsay and is making his home at 51 Sussex Street N.
