Mr. and Mrs. Martin Fox, Glenelg St. E. have received word from their son, PO Leonard J. Fox, on active service overseas.

Leonard J. Fox whose home is at 52 Glenelg Street E. in Lindsay enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force on 22 October 1942. Previous to his enlistment Leonard was attending the Lindsay Collegiate Institute.
He trained in Canada at No. 1 Manning Depot, No. 23 P.A.E.D., No. 2 I.T.S. Lakeside Camp, No. 6 I.T.S., No. 1 A.O.S., and No. 2 A.G.T.S., “Y” Depot. He was promoted in turn from AC2 – LAC – Sergeant – Pilot Officer and finally Flying Officer.
In Canada he was stationed at Toronto, Malton, Montreal, Quebec City and Lachine, Que.
FO Fox, L.J. went overseas on 31 March 1944. He saw action with the Air Force against the enemy and was priviledged to survive 23 occupational trips over Germany.
Flying Officer Fox had further training at No. 8 A.F.U. (0) – No 4 O.T.U. – 4 G.R. Battle School and No 4 H.C.U. Bournemouth.
FO Fox transferred while in the service at Mona Wales, Lossiemouth Scotland, Riccall Yorks, Fall Sutton Yorks.
His war service earned for him the C.V.M. & Clasp; The 1939-45 Star, and the France-Germany Star.
Flying Officer Fox returned home from overseas service on 24 May 1945. He was given his discharge from active duty on 27 August 1945.
