Richard Edward (Dick) Green, of Lindsay, enlisted for service with the Canadian Army in September 1939. He joined the 45th Field Battery of the Royal Canadian Artillery and held the rank of Sergeant.
Sgt. R.E. Green received his training at Petawawa (Ont.), Debert (N.S.), Tracadie (N.B.). Sgt. Green went overseas in November 1941. He saw action with the army against the enemy in Italy and Germany after further training in England.
Sgt. Green arrived home in September 1945 and was given his discharge in November 1945.
R.E. Green was a railroader with the Canadian National Railways prior to the war and he is welcomed back to Lindsay and to his former employment.
R.E. Green is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Green of 14 Division Street. His wife and son Richard reside on Lindsay St. S. in Lindsay during his time overseas.
