One of the youngest soldiers overseas from Lindsay is Gunner Garnet Wilbert Hartwick, a son of Mr. and Mrs. R. Hartwick, Colborne St. When still under eighteen years of age he enlisted at Peterboro and in less than three months he was sent overseas with an antiaircraft battery. For over a year he has been patrolling streets in England and has had considerable experience with the Hun.

He is the baby of the family said Mr. Hartwick, But he is over six feet tall and that is one reason why he was anxious to enlist. I did not try to stop him—--I served four years in the last war overseas.

Gunner Hartwick attended the Central School and also the Lindsay Collegiate Institute. This will be his first Christmas away from home. He expects to spend Christmas 1942 in London. Already he has visited in Ireland and Scotland.

Gunner Hartwick has an older brother in the Midland Regiment, in Prince Rupert, B.C. and a younger brother belongs to the Reserve Unit in Lindsay.
