Sgt. E.D. Hawkins, Lindsay
Airman Killed in plane crashFriends of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Hawkins, 58 Wellington Street, were shocked to learn on Sunday of the death of their younger son, Sgt. Edwin D. Hawkins, R.C.A.F. in a plane crash on Saturday during a night training flight.
Sgt. Hawkins was attached to Fingal Bombing and Gunnery School as a staff pilot. He received his wings at Penhold, Alta., early this year at the age of 19.
The funeral will be held in Toronto on Wednesday afternoon at 3 o’clock.
Besides his parents the young pilot is survived but one sister, Mrs. John Wenzel, Toronto, and a brother P.O. Thos. Hawkins, and instructor at St. Eugene, Ontario. Mr. Hawkins Sr. is employed at the CNR Lindsay.
