Spending his Pacific leave with his parents Oakwood, July 27, (PNS) – Pte. Stuart Hicks, son of Mr. and Mrs. Noble Hicks, arrived home on Tuesday from overseas for a thirty-day leave before going to the Pacific theatre of war. A very hearty welcome is extended to him, not only from the family, all of whom were home that day, but also from the village and community.

Stuart Caleb Hicks whose home is at Oakwood enlisted for service with the Canadian Army on 3 February 1943. He entered the Royal Canadian Ordnance Corps in which he held the rank of Craftsman. Cfn Hicks trained at Hamilton, Ont. and Barriefield Camp, Ontario, before proceeding overseas. Cfn. Hicks arrived in England on 1 November 1943.
Cfn Hicks was engaged in overseas service with the army for almost two years, arriving home on 23 July 1945.
Cfn Hicks was still on active service in February of 1946, stationed at Camp Borden, Ontario.
Prior to his enlistment, Stuart was employed as a machinist.
