- Dear Girls:
Many thanks for another carton of cigs. which followed me from England to “Somewhere in France”. You will note that my address has changed. I am hoping it will not be necessary for you to use it – in other words, I am hoping the war will be over before my turn comes for another carton. We are now receiving a ration of 50 free cigarettes a week – English variety. They are not bad but do not compare with the good old Canadian variety. They are not bad but do not compare with the good old Canadian variety. I would like to know the amount of money you girls have raised for smokes for us. It must be quite a large sum and I am sure every one of us fully appreciates your splendid work. Thanks a million.
