Ian Johnston, Lindsay Boy, a Casualty

Among the local casualties announced last week was that officially recording the death of Sergt. Ian Johnston, a son of Mr. and Mrs. H.S. Johnston, Bond St., who laid down his life for his country on the fields of Normandy.


Death took place on Aug. 8th.


Sergt. Johnson was a member of the 2nd Survey Regiment. He received his basic training at Kingston and was despatched overseas some three years ago.


The young Sergeant was a graduate of the Lindsay Collegiate Institute, and also of Queen's University, Kingston, He was a very likeable young man, with a pleasant disposition, courteous manner and always thoughtful regarding others. He was a member of Cambridge St. United Church Choir and a former member of the O.R.B. He is survived by his parents, one brother Dr. Bruce Johnston, at present overseas and a sister Gladys, residing in Montreal.
