Oakwood Soldier Wounded
Sergt. Jarvis Lake, a young soldier from Oakwood, was among the unfortunate Canadians to be wounded within the closing days of the war, while mopping up Germany. He is the son of Mrs. E.M. and the late Marshall Lake, former residents of the Village, at present residing in Toronto.
Sgt. Lake was born at Oakwood and it was here he received his early education. Previous to the outbreak of war he was employed as a miner and it was from this work that he went to join His Majesty’s Forces at Lindsay. He enlisted with the Midland Regiment (Active) and has been overseas for some months.
During his service, he was in Italy during the heavy stages of the fighting there and later returned to England, where he was given a special training course and sent to the Western Front, where he was wounded.
