Local soldier is wounded in Sicily
Hector Luck, private in the Hasting and Prince Edward Reg. has been reported wounded in Sicily. Hec. as he was known by his friends joined the array on Nov. 10, 1939 and was with the arsenal guard for six months before being transferred to the H. and P.E. Reg. He was sent to England and arrived on Sept. 1940.
Private Luck is married and has four children, Diane, Bonnie Heather, Janine and Sharon. Mrs. Luck has two brothers in the service in the U.S. George is a Petty Officer 1st Class in the Naval Air Corps and Charles is a Master Sgt. with the Army.
No official statement has been by the department yet as to how serious or where the wound was made.

Sgt. Hector H. Luck enlisted in November 1939, and served in the Infantry with the Hastings and Prince Edward Reg’t. He was posted at Lindsay, Picton, Borden, and Halifax and proceeded overseas in August 1940 serving in England, Sicily, Italy, North Africa, France, Belgium, Holland, and Germany.
He was wounded at Assora (Sicily) 10 July 1943, and injured at Rimini, Italy 20 September 1944.
He received CVSM; 1939-45 Star; Italy Star; Def. B; European Star.
He arrived home 24 May 1945 and was discharged 29 June 1945.
