Flt. Lieut. Jack Mitchell is missing
Flt. Lieut. Jack Mitchell, formerly of Lindsay and Fenelon Falls and well known throughout this district as a member of the Brandon Waterloo hockey team of Fenelon Falls, is reported missing in operations as of May 7.
The information was contained in a cable received by Mr. Harry Stone with whom the missing airman made his home for several years. His parents reside in Biggar, Saskatchewan.
Slt. Lieut. Mitchell was a particular friend of Leo Cook, of Lindsay, who has been reported missing for some months. The two trained and played together in the Brandon hockey team.
Word had recently been received by Mr. and Mrs. Stone that Mitchell expected to return to Canada on leave following the completion of two or three more trips, which would have filled his quota of operations before being granted home leave.
