Husband is freed from prison camp
S|Sgt. Morin released from Stalag VII A Mooseburg, Bavaria Mrs. Rita Prances Morin, of 10 Glenelg St. E., has just received word that her husband, S|Sgt. Edward Francis Morin, has been released from Stalag VII A Mooseburg, Bavaria, and has been in England since May 1st.
S|Sgt. Morin joined the Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry Highlander in Peterborough in July, 1940. He went overseas early in 1941. S|Sgt. Morin returned home to Canada as an instructor in the King's Own Royal Rifles of Canada and trained men in Moose jaw, Sask,, and also in Terras, British Columbia.
He volunteered as a paratrooper for the First Special Service Force, a combination of Canadian and American troops and trained at Helena; Montana, Burlington, Vermont, and also in Norfolk, Virginia. He was in the raid on the Aleutians and returned home for a short leave before going to Italy. SSgt. Morin was in Italy when taken prisoner on the 23rd day of May, 1944.
