John R. Murray of Lindsay was Branch Manager of the Dominion Store at Whitby, Ont. when he signed up in Toronto for army service in April 1942.
He was sent to No. 10 Training Centre at Kitchener where he received his Basic Training. Following this he was assigned to the Ordnance Dept and sent to England where he arrived in August 1942. Here he served for about two years and was advanced to the rank of Corporal.
Owing to ill health while taking a special course at Oxford he was sent to Northern England.
Cpl. Murray is now (Nov. 1944) employed in the Chief Treasury.
