Downeyville mother receives Royal Expression of sympathy
Mrs. Thomas Murtha, Downeyville, who lost her son, James Murtha in a battle in France on August 14 is recently in receipt of a note of sympathy in her time of sorrow from Their Majesties, The King and Queen of England.
The note which is printed on an excellent quality bond note paper bearing the Royal Crest and dated at Buckingham Palace reads as follows.
The Queen and I offer you our heartfelt sympathy in your great sorrow
We pray that your country’s gratitude for a life so nobly given in its service may bring you some measure of consolation.
