Former LCI boy on King’s New Year’s Honour List
Congratulations are extended to Pilot Officer A.A. Myers for the honour of being listed in the King’s New Year’s Even honour list.
Arnold is a former Dunsford boy but his family now resides on William Street North, town.
He has spent the last year and a half as an instructor in Saskatoon and it was while there that he performed the feat that won him distinction. Eight students were in formation during a lesson period when one student crashed into Arnold’s plane and on to the ground. The student, a New Zealander, was killed but Arnold brought his plane down safely. The loss of a plane means a loss of $30,000.
Arnold visited his home and with friends during the holiday season and left on Saturday for Summerside, PEI where he will take a course in Astral Navigation at the General Reconnaissance School.
The young pilot officer is 24 years of age and is a graduate of Lindsay Collegiate Institute.
