Officer who delivered album was Flt-Lt. Arnold Myers
Monday the Post published an appeal from a Toronto woman who was seeking the name of a Lindsay officer, recently returned from overseas, who delivered a photo album to a Toronto address but neglected to leave his name so that the owner might convey her thanks to him. Today (Tuesday) the mystery was solved when shortly before noon, Flt.-Lt. Arnold (Al) Myers, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Myers, William St. N., called to say that he was the one who had delivered the album.
While Flt. Lt. Myers was in the office it was learned that he had returned aboard the Ile de France on her last east-west crossing.
He says he is mighty glad to be back for a visit with his parents and friends in the town and is having a grand time.
The boat was packed on her last crossing he told your reporter adding that she carried a total of 9,7000 [sic] people. They left England on a Sunday docked the following Friday. Even at that he said they were late in typing up because it was necessary to slow down a piece off shore in order to avoid getting in during daylight. It seems that on the previous trip the ship developed a serious list when her human cargo crowded to one side as the ship nosed into harbor and considerable difficulty was experienced in wharfing.
