Russell Arlington Packard whose home is at Carnarvon, Ontario, enlisted for service with the Canadian Army on 12 November 1942.
He joined the Canadian Armoured Corps and had the rank, Trooper.
Tpr. Packard trained at Kingston, Brampton, and Camp Borden (Ont.) while in Canada. He was trained as a gunner and wireless operator. Tpr. Packard went overseas on 14 June 1943.
After further training at Blackdown, England, he saw action against the enemy in Italy, Holland, and Germany. Tpr. Packard arrived home from overseas service on 21 November 1945. He was given his discharge from the active army on 5 December 1945.
Prior to enlisting in the service of his country, Trooper Packard was employed in the lumbering industry of our north. He is welcomed back to the district.
