- Jas. Parker enlisted 09 January 1941 at Cobourg, Ontario with the 1st Midland Reg. as a bandsman, moved to Lansdowne Park, Ottawa, the end of January 1941, there until May 1941 when they moved on to St. John (NB). Here the Midland Band broadcasted several times as well as helped ion different towns with Victory Loan Drives. In September 1941 moved to Niagara-on-the-lake until March 1942 when they moved on to Edmonton. A short time later they were moved to Prince Rupert. In May 1943 they were sent Overseas and the band of the Midland Reg. was disbanded. Jas Parker was placed in the Royal Canadian Engineers band and arrived in Italy on 04 September 1944.
