- Carl G. Sawyer, whose home is at West Guilford, Ontario, enlisted in the Canadian Army on 22 June 1943. Pte. Sawyer trained at Brantford, Petawawa, and Debert (N.S.) Pte. Sawyer went overseas on 26 February 1944 and took part in the invasion of France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. Pte. Sawyer received training with the artillery and the infantry. He was twice wounded while in the encounters with the enemy. Pte. Sawyer arrived home on 27 December 1945 and was give his honourable discharge from active service on 1 February 1946.
