Gnr. Simpkins, Wallace George. Son of Mr. and Mrs. Alex Simpkins, Lindsay and grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Jos Ryall of Lindsay, RR2. Educated at Mariposa and Ops township schools, Gnr. Simpkins enlisted at Toronto on 22 March 1941. He trained at Brantford, Petawawa, Debert (NS), and went overseas in October 1941. He landed in France on 6 June 1944. He was wounded at Caen on 11 July 1944 in the right arm, severing an artery. Two blood transfusions were required. He landed at Halifax, N.S., aboard the Lady Nelson on 17 July 1944 and in Lindsay 20 July 1944. He spent some time at Chorley Park and later entered Christie Street Hospital for treatment. He had an operation on his arm on 5 March 1945 and progressed favourably. - Date of Publication
