Elliot Spenceley whose home is 40 James St. Lindsay, enlisted in the RCA, 45th Battery on 22 September 1939 with the rank of Gunner. He trained at Petawawa Ontario and Sussex (NB), and was for a period at Tracade (NB). Having the trade of butcher in pre-war occupation he was promoted to Pte. Regimental Butcher. He was sent overseas on 11 November 1941. He saw service with the Canadian Army in France, Belgium, Holland and Germany.
Pte. Spenceley took a course at Smith Field, England as a Butcher. He transferred from the 7th Army Field to 2nd H.A.A. to 3rd Division RCASC. He arrived home on 3 July 1945 and was discharged on 13 August 1945.
