Clifford J. Staples of Lindsay enlisted for service with the Canadian Army on 8 August 1942. He entered the Royal Canadian Artillery with the rank of Lieutenant.
Lieut. Staples received his training at Aldershot (NB), and Brockville (Ont).
While with the forces in Canada, Lieut. Staples was moved from these stations to St. John (NB), Halifax (NS) and to Labrador. Lieut. Staples was promoted to Captain on 26 October 1945.
Captain Staples went overseas on 10 March 1945. He had previously (December 1944) transferred to the Infantry division. Captain Staples is still on active duty with the army in England (Feb. 1946).
Captain Staples’ wife, son and daughter reside at 41 Victoria Ave. N. in Lindsay.
