Lieutenant William Bateman Stoddart, RCA.

Bill was born in Woodville, Ontario on 4 July 1922. He enlisted in October of 1942 after being educated at Woodville Public School, Continuation School and the Lindsay Collegiate Institute. He took his Basic Training at Cornwall and was promoted to Lance-Corporal in January 1943. He entered Brockville as a cadet for Officers Training on 15 February 1943 and graduated on 15 May 1943. He took his advanced training in field artillery at Shilo (Manitoba) from May until August and graduated as a 1st Lieutenant from Shils 11 August 1943. He received his training for light anti-aircraft artillery in Halifax (NS) from August to November 1943 and arrived overseas on 20 November 1943. Bill is married to a Lindsay girl, the former Vera Forman.
