Arthur Haydn Fletcher of Lindsay enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force on 26 May 1941.
He trained in Canada at Trenton (Ont.),Rivers (Man.), Jarvis (Ont.), Aylmer (Ont.), Penfield Ridge (N.B.), Debert (N.S.), Belleville (Ont.), and Charlottetown (P.E.I.). He was promoted in turn from ACII to LAC to PO and FO. This training was for Pilot, Bombing, Air Gunnery and Navigation.
Pilot Officer Fletcher was sent overseas in November 1942. He was engaged in operational duty from England over enemy territory.
In England Flying Officer Fletcher was attached to the RAF for operational duty.
Flying Officer Fletcher was killed while on duty over England on 29 March 1943.
