Hymeneal.

-On Tuesday evening of last week a pleasing

event of interest to residents of this town and

county took place at the residence of Dr. Greig,

131 Sherbourne-st., Toronto, being the marriage

of Mr. Thomas Stewart, barrister, of the firm of

McIntyre & Stewart, Lindsay, to Miss Edith

Lillian, youngest daughter of the late Alexander

Greig of Oshawa and sister of Dr. Greig. The

ceremony took place at 7:30 p.m., the nuptial

knot being deftly tied by Rev. James Ross of

Harwood, Ont., brother-in-law of the bride, as-

sisted by Rev. Dr. McTavish, lately of Lindsay.

The bride was charmingly attired and-we have

it from excellent authority-looked fascinating.

The bridesmaids were Miss Steele and her

younger sister, nieces of the bride. The groom

was ably supported by Mr. A. Higinbotham,

druggist, of this town. The ceremony was of a

private nature, and only a number of intimate

friends of the contracting couple were present.

A rechereche dejeuner was then served and the

usual congratulatory toasts duly honored and

replied to, after which the happy couple left for

New York and Albany, on a honeymoon trip of

two or three weeks. It is needless almost to

say that Mr. Stewart was the recipient of many

elegant presents. Having been actively connect-

ed for some years with the Young People's

Christian Association of Knox church and the

Duchess-st. mission Sabbath school, both of

these organizations contributed substantial evi-

dences of their kindly feelings towards her and

testified to the esteem in which she is held by

all members......We take the liberty of extend-

ing to the young couple the sincere congratula-

tions of many friends in this district, in which

we heartily join.
