- Full Text
- A very pretty June wedding took place
Thursday of last week at the residence of
Mr. Wm. Walters, Wellington-st., when
his eldest daughter, Blanche L., was mar-
ried to Mr. J.W. Lyons, G.T.R. train
despatcher of this town, the officiating
clergyman being the Rev. S. J. Shorey,
pastor of Cambridge-st. Methodist church.
The bride was very becomingly gowned
in cream grenadine silk with trimmings
of chiffon and moire ribbon, and carried
a large boquet of Marechal Neil roses. The
bridesmaids were Miss Cora, sister of the
bride, and Miss Frankie Lawrence, of
Campbellford, the former wearing a pretty
dress of organdie muslin, trimmed with
green, with large boquets of red roses, and
the latter a dress of the same material,
trimmed with hellotrope and carrying a
boquet of blush roses. The groom was
ably supported by Messrs. W.R. Widdess
and P.G. Burgess. The house was very
prettily decorated with honeysuckle fes-
toonings, interspersed with roses, and a
bank of foliage plants almost filled one
side of the room. After the ceremony the
guests, about fifty in number, sat down to
a dainty wedding repast, after which the
bride held a short reception for the mem-
bers of the Cambridge-st. Methodist church
choir, of which both the bride and groom
were members. The presents, consisting
principally of silverware, dainty china and
fancy work, made an elaborate display.
The happy young couple left, amid showers
of rice and old shoes, for the west by the
6.10 train. On their return to Lindsay they
will take up their residence in a cosy home
on Colborne-st. Among the guests were
noticed the following from out of town:
Mr. and Mrs. Lyons, Sunderland: Mrs.
Crawford, Toronto: Miss Easton, Toronto:
Miss Lyons, Markdale; Mrs. Crofton and
son, Toronto.
