- Notes
- “I was 13 years old when WWI started, and I still recall the newspaper headlines, ‘Kaiser calls the agreement a scrap of paper,’ and I also recall Major General Sir Sam Hughes, Minister of Militia and a member for this riding, calling at our home and when the voting came for Union Government and conscription, he spoke at our house, but what I remember most was his car, it was the first car I saw that had electric lights. The lights went off when the engine was turned off.” George C.R. Hall.
