o v A. Big Find. The rather uncicnt and not undis- tinguishcd village of Lyme. Connecticut, now rejoices in the seu>ation of a big pecuniary ï¬nd in one of her suburban homesâ€"the Kinpbury estate. Sixty thousand dollars in cash and 830,00†in securities are said to be the amount thus unearthed. What makes this dis- covery still more of an incentive to the romaneer is that the Kinzsbury family is an old and noted oneâ€"the late Major Kingsbury in his day having been some- thing of a warrior, and his son. .‘L-jor lleuey Kingsbury of the Eleventh Con- necticut, having fallen at the battle oi Ant'etam, while his daughter lived to marry the well-known General Simon ll. Buckner, ex-governor of Kentucky. These are promising materials for a romance, with the added interest of it~ being an entire reality. p...._ _. -. __ Imperative. A change in the commercial policy of Canada is undoubtedly beeotning im» ptra ire. The country is not. making yrogress, but is rather retrouradinu. The efforts to increase population by immigration have amounted to nothing, for the reason that. there is a constant drain from the native population of people who come to the United States. Deprived of the markets of this country farming has become unprofitable, and with nothing but the home market manufacturing does not prosper. Efforts to extend the foreign trade have brought no practical results. The situation is growing harder and tune distressing, but still the Government will consider no remedy that involves discrimination amiust English interests. There was considerable hard driving and a large amount. of loud talking and yelling on Walton street. some time be- fore the middle of Saturday night, which was not by any means Soothing to those trying to sleep. Two young men, Sam Smith and J. Ran-e, happened to drive down as an Electric Light Co's em- ployee lowered the electric lamp at the corner of Queen and Walton streets to rc-cnrbon it for the remainder of the night. The young min yelled to warn the men, but llowe, who was driving. did not stop but drove his horse full speed into the. dangling wires, which cauzht the animal unler the neck and threw it. The effect on the electric plant was somewhat doinoralizingâ€"uthc manager says to the extent of SBOâ€"th.‘ lamp was smashed- and the stays on the rootol'the Amnimm [Ltd were pulled oil. Gustav Anderson was sent. into the blow-off tank ol one of the digcrters (boilers in which the pulp is cooked in a chemical solution) and Stephen Mc- Donald, who Was sent to turn steam into another digestor, blunderingly opened the blow-off valve of the one connected with the tank in which Anderson was working.
