Those farmers' sons in Ontario who havc‘ not the means to purchase the high-priced farms in this Province are determined to go somewhere in search of cheaper land, and it is pre- f.:rable that they should go to our own Northwest rather than Minnesota or Do- kota. That better provision is not. made for their rceepiiou on arriving in the West, and to assist them in ï¬nding suitable locations, is most discreditable to the Government. It is shameful that there should be only one land guide to a whole colony of settlers. and that proer shelter is not provided for the new arrivals, pending their permanent settlement. This is a case where econ- omy in spending is worse than fully. The most. liberal arrangement should be made looking, towards the location of settlers.
