April 27th,,1892. , this year. The Fenelon Falls Gazette. . Friday; October 7th, 1892. . The Great Buggy Case. The litigation over Mrs. H. McDonâ€" gall’s buggy has at length come to an end, and has been definitely decided in her favour. The now famous vehicle was seized and sold by the collector, a year ago last summer, for taxes on a store occupied by Mr. McDougall and owned by Mr. Wm.‘ McArthur, who was then recve of the village. Mrs. Mc- Dougall brought an action in the county courtâ€"nominally against the- corpora- tion, but in reality against Mr. McAr- thur, who had indemnified the council and the collectorâ€"and a verdict was given in her favor with $70 damages. The council then appealed to the county judge, who decided against them; and the Court of Appeals, to which the case was next carried, has sustained the judgels decision and dismissed the appeal with costs. . Harvest Thanksgiving. The Church of' England Harvest Thanksgiving Services this week were very numerously attended, and, pecuni- arily as well as otherwise, were a great success. On Sunday sermons were preached morning and evening to large congregations by the reverend C. H. Marsh of Lindsay, and on Tuesday evening there was a tea, which the Rev. Mr. Creighton of Bobcaygeou justly pronounced recherche, in Ingram‘s hall, followed by addresses and a lecture in Dickson’s hall. The speakers were Revs. Farncomb, Creighton, McKinnon and Fraser, after whom came the Rev. J. C. Allen of Millbrook, who delivered a most interesting and instructive lecture on his tour through Palestine. The proceeds, over expenses, amounted to about 845, which will be devoted to the erecting of a driving shed, and country members of the congregation have prom- ised $25 more. Fenelon Prize List.
