A'n electric-light pole stood in the way of a house which-has. since been moved from. As soon . as ho had done so the pole swayedstcwnrds the house, and he was thrown upon its roof; but the dis- tance was so trifling that. he was not hurt. SPRAYING Funtr TREES.â€"â€"Tlie Onâ€" tario Bee-keepcrs’ Association have sent out notices drawing the attention of' the public to the fact that a number of its members suffer from persons spraying fruitlrecs in full bloom, thereby killing the bees. An act. of Parliament passed in 1892 says: “ No person in spraying or, sprinkling fruit trees duringr the period within which such trees are in _ full bloom. shall use or cau<c to be used any mislure containing Paris green or anymhcr poisonous substance injurious to bees,†and pl'OVlduS a penalty for contravention of the act. Expert evi- dence, taken by the Legislative As- gnmbly before the act was passed, shows that spraying in full bloom is injurious tothe fruit grower as well as to the bee keeper. Prof. J. H. Panton, Entomolo- gist at the Agricultural College, Guelph, says the bill is in accordance » with the teachings of science. It is hoped that the law will not have to be applied, as most personsarc not aware of the harm they do themselves as well as tho-bee keepers“ The best results are obtained by spraying immediately atterthc tall Ql. the. blossom-sh Webster, of Kirkï¬eld (formerly of Fenelon township), to Isabella, daughter of Mr. _ George Henley, ofLiudsay.
