Mines in Marmora township, Has- tings county, owued by the Canada Con- solidated Gold Mining Company and operated by an English syndicate, have been made the subject of litigation in a million dollar action filed against the company by Richard P. Rotthll, Helen New-berry and Wm. H. Stevens, capital- , ists, of Detroit. The exact sum sought is 8953.630 60, which, it is claimed, represents advances made and services rendered by the plaintifis since August, 1893, when the defendant company first came into possession of the mines. The plaintiffs, it is claimed. furnished almost the entire capital to develop the mines, taking mortgage bonds as part security. They now seek possession of the mines through the foreclosure of these bonds, which amount to $300,000. The company has its only office in New York. The English syndicate, which is now operat- ing the mines, have control of them un- der a lease made nearly two years ago.
