A ver good way to carry this out is to have a portable fence made which can be shifted as required. By this means the sheep can be given just as much of the crop as they can profitably con- sume, and the eaten crop left to make a fresh growth. Under these condi- tions the crop can be fed off three times during an ordinary season. Good Feed For Pigs. Rape also makes an excellent feed for pigs. They can be turned in to graze on it the same as sheep, and young pigs can be fed on a crop and kept in good condition until they are large enough to bring in and'top up for market. When it is not convenient to turn the pigs on the crop, and it is not advisable to do so where sheep are likely to be on the same crop, at quan- tity can be cut and carted to the pigs every day. Pigs can be kept in good show condition and in good order for stud purposes on rape alone. Rape in conjunction with other fod- der is largely used for dairy cattle, but is particularly valuable for mixing with other food to make silage. When mixed with vetches, oats and rye it makes a highly nutritious and valuable ' silage. When fed to dairy cows in a.
