, a 5 ATTENDED BY' - -. nu: DOCTORS our cor no RELIEF UNTIL HE USE DODD’S KIDNEY PILLS. ~Womlcrl‘ul Cure of A. 1". Richard, Who was Tortured by Ilheuman tlsm and Kindred Pains, Sets Kent County Talking. St. Ignace, Kent 00., N. 13., ‘Nov. 99â€"â€"(Special).â€"After being tortured for four years with backâ€"l ache, Rheumatism, Stiffness of the iJoints and Pains in the Loins, and ‘getting no relief from live doctorse ,whom he called in, Mr. Antoine l“:- -Bichard, a well-known farmer livfi ging near here, is spreading the ,good news that he is once more a, well man, and that he owes his cure lto Dodd’s Kidney Pills. Speaking ioi his wonderful cure, Mr. Richard says :â€" “I was a helpless man in July, 1907. For four years I had endur-: rd the greatest torture from Backâ€"g ache, Rheumatism, Stiffness of the: iJoints and Pains in theLoins. I, ghad dark circles under my eyes, my, head ached and I was often dizzy. I was attended by five doctors, but not one of them could help me. ., “Then I began to use Dodd’s Kid- ;ney Pills and after the first few- fdoses I began to improve. I used 'four boxes in all and now I am ,working every day on the farm a. Ewell man. I- owe my wonderful cure Eto Dodd’s Kidney Pills and nothing else.” ' There is no case or kind of Kids. ney Disease that Dodd’s Kidney Pills will not cure. .‘ {54‘ ., .- SENTENCE SERMONS. Sorrow is the teacher of sympa- thy. , There are no saints without ser-' woe. . Most remorse comes from despisâ€" ‘big rebuke. j The good lives are always lookâ€" ‘ing to better ones. Burning thoughts from hot heads. Nothing feels the lack of exercise .quicker than piety. , He who fears to be called a cow- ard is sure to be a fool. The holiness that seems to hurt lyou cannot help the world. 5 Religion is out attempt to dis- ,cover the meaning of life. § lie has a share in a good deed I'WllO cheers another on to it. Temptation may be good discip- ilinc, but it makes poor diet. f No one dies of spiritual indigesâ€" ,tion from swallowing his spite. ‘ The larger the heart the more it la is the power of little hands. 3 The surest way to an empty heart is to nurse an envious mind. i Flattery is simply a way of boast- .»lng of our power to fool others. The more a man knows the less ,he is ashamed of his ignorance. The religious life is the only way into the knowledge of religious truth. The people who are going no~ where are always in a rush to get there. , Some who talk with unction on working for sinners are but work- ing the saints. Folks who sit down in a soth place hope that it is an elevator and find it is a glue pot. Life is likely to lose all humor when you get into the habit of ridi- cule and cheap wit. 3 He who believes only in the things he can see ucver sees anything worth believing in. ' It is easier to write a volume on psychology than it is to get to know a man so as to really help him. Some people get so little out of .religion because they are so anxious 'to get so much for themselves. ;' It is easy to plug your enemy full [of holes when you make him out let mud and set him up before you ‘ln a sermon. never come ISSUE NO. 48â€"09 ' to the scalded parts. rnnrunn‘u’s ART. Women- Few llemcnd Subtle Blend- ing of Perfumes. “Women are strangely fickle in their choice of perfumes,” says a famous London chemist. .‘ ‘Tired of the scent of single flowers, they are now demanding subtle blendings. But the fashion in sccnts is undy- ing. More than $500,000 is now-a.â€" days to be made from the evolution of one new perfume. “Perfumery has risen to he an art. Beautiful music and lovely pictures strike their note upon the senses; so does a delicate blending of odors. In the evolution of anew perfume I play upon a certain numâ€" ber of harmonious notes. “Large sums of money are often spent upon preliminary laboratory work. Here”â€"â€"â€"he produced a tiny fragrant pot 2 inches highâ€"“is the perfume essence derived from half a ton of violets. It is worth $200. Our flower basis for laboratory exâ€" periments includes also jasmine, rose, orange blossoms, and cassieâ€" a French flower produced solely for perfumery. To these are added vegetable odorsâ€"the seed of musk plant, tonquin bean, vanilla bean, cloves, and the distillation of com~ plete plants, such as lavender and rosemary. “When delicate blends from these have been obtained in special lab- oratories we, have to procure ani- mal substances to keep the odors from evaporating, such as natural musk from the musk deer, caster from the beaver, and ambergris from the whale. “An art in itself is the coloring of the perfume when it has been obtained. Pure vegetable colorings chiefly are used. The cult of per- fumes has so advanced that a woâ€" man with a rosc tinted gown new demands, as a matter of course, a haunting rose odor, and a violet costume correspondingly has a vio- let perfume.” ~ WWW WATER GAUGE BURST. M C. P. R. Fireman Badly Scalded. O. P. R. fireman", Geo. H. Duffus, who lives in Robertson Street, Fort William, while on his engine near Westford happened with a nasty accident. The water gauge of the locomotive burst and scalded the left side of-his face and head terribly “It so happened,” said Duffus to our representative, “that I had a box of Zam-Buk in my pocket, which I used for a sore on my lip, and when I had recovered from the first shock of the accident, I produced the helm and had it applied freely At the time I applied it I was suffering acute agony, but within a wonderful shorti time Zam-Buk gave me ease. I was able to continue my journey, and,» upon reaching home I obtained| more Zam~Buk and continued the; treatment. It_acted wonderfullyl well, and in a few days had thel wound nicely healing. I don’tf know anything so fine as a. healer; of burns, scalds, cuts, and similar‘; injuries which workers are so liable? to; and in my opinion a box of Zam-, Buk should be. kept handy in every worker’s home.” . For burns, cuts, scalds, bruises ec-f zema. piles ulcers, ring-worms, itch; saltrheum, bad leg, festering sores,. chapped places, coldâ€"sores, frost- bites, and all skin injuries and dis- eases, Zam-Buk is beyond doubt a most marvellous cure. Druggists and stores sell at 50 cents a box and the Zam-Buk 00., orouto, will mail a box, post free, upon receipt of price, to any of our. readers. “awnâ€"Elm- Bingoowml‘hings have gone so badly with me that I have had to compel my wife to make her own Idresses.” Kinglcyâ€"â€"â€"“Too bad. Johnny came home the other night in high glee, wearing the i arithmetic medal. i “What is that mother. “That’s the prize for doing ex- amples,” said Johnny. “I did this lone: ‘If our new baby weight ele- ven and a half pounds. and gains an ounce each day’-â€"’cause you told Mrs. Smith she did yesterdayâ€"‘how much will she weigh when she’s twenty years old '2’ And the an- swer was, four hundred and sixtyâ€" six pounds.
