Oxfords for some years, and it is no longer true. - Under present conditions, is the cheer- fulness which amounts to heroism. People fail, and realize that they fail. Still they struggle on, always looking for something better, and always put- tin the best foot foremost. Nothing could be better evidence that mankind is capable of better things than this optimism and determination when the battle is lost. There is no need of the world being ever in a condition where a majority of the people are kept from good through lack of means of obtaining it. They who think can readily ï¬nd reas- on for poverty in wasted effort 5 and in robbery a reason for the spoiled lives that make this a miserableâ€"world. It all comes of mastery. A few, by controlling the means of life, keep the many from employing themselves in a way that might make them rich, and, at the same time, rob them of a great- er portion of that which they produce. If Mohamedan children were brought up “wholer under Catholic ideals, they would all be Catholics ',_if Catholics were raised under Mohammâ€" dan ideals, they would all be hilol‘mni- edans. This being true, it shows you why we have so many stupid V()t0z‘sâ€"â€"â€"- they have been traind to vote the NAME of a certain ticket, to look upon cor: tain FORMS as right, and they do not know that their ideas are merely the REFLECTION of what others have been impressing on their mindsâ€"perhaps: because their preceptors knew no hot-- ter. Ask the average voter why he is ’ such, and he will likely tell you that his father was the same ; ask him what. he knows about the party and what it; stands for, and he will frankly say he does not know, or else will repeat, like a parrot, some statement given him, and which he could not explain to save his life. And his statement will be directly opposite that of some other voter, who has been taught the reverse. Socialists are trying to get the people to take up ALL the various ideals, look at them and compare them, and then they will have more deï¬nite ideals. They will do THEIR OWN thinking, in- stead of allowing others to do it for- them. Of course, those who do the suggesting do not want this, because it would upset their power over their dupes. The more ignorant the people i are of every side except the‘ones gene- rally believed in, the better fer the masters.
