A good programme will be provided, consisting of solos, duets, rccitations. readings, and a dialogue. The orchestra will be in attendance. At the close of the programme refresh- ments will be served. Miles Hamilton and Thomas Graham drove over from Fenclon Falls on Friday last and presented President Fallis with theStanton-Boboaygeon Cup, won by the Bobcaygeon Curling Club last winter in their interâ€"Club contest. The cup is on view in the window of Mr. Bottum’s Hardware Store. It is a fine piece of Silverware, and will no doubt be the cause of friendly contests between the Clubs for many years to come cer- tainly asrlong as Messrs Graham and Hamilton are associated with the Fenel- o'n-Club, it will be up to Bobcaygeon ' to vie with them in all that constitutes perfect sportsmanship. â€"â€" Bobcaygcon Independent. ‘ ‘ DRUNK 'AND DISORDERLY. Two residents of Glenarm who came to B‘eiielon Falls on Tuesday became a trifle nproarious towards evening. Chief 'Jones warned them a ecuple of times. but 'thcy paid little attention to him, and at last one of them became abusive. The constable, assisted by Mr. Paul Oulette, overpowered him, and took him to the lockup. About midnight the other 'man Was arrested out in the country and brought in. They were tried the followâ€" ing day by Magistrate Moore of Lindsay. The line and costs of'the principal of- fender came to $16.70 and of the other man $9.00.. They will now be able to take an intelligent part in discussions on the high‘cost of living. ' WOMEN'S INSTITUTE. The regular monthly meeting of the Women’s institute was held on Friday afternoon last at the home of Mrs. Dr. Gould, the president, and was well at- tended. Miss T. Patten and Miss S. Martin contributed instrumental selec- _.tions, which were much enjoyed- The "answers to} the roll call elicited many useful suggestions on matters pertainâ€" ing to housework. The sewing demon- stration was not given, owing to the unavoidable absence of the lady who was to have taken charge of it, much to the regret of those present. Patterns were exchanged, and Miss Nie gave a demonstration on home made candy. Miss Martin also treated the members to a quantity of delicious home made fudge. Fruit refreshments were served, and the meeting closed with the singing of “ The Maple Leaf.†'HARD AT WORK. The steamer Bob Hall, with Captain Frank Morin in charge, and the Herbert. Captain John Brooks Jr., passed through the locks on Thursday night, bringing with them the dredge and drill, which are now in active operation in the upper end of the canal. Capt. Geo. Spilsbury has charge of the dredge, the crew being the same as last year. Mr. Ancil Mills, who was captain of the drill scow last season, and who was to have been in charge this year, was unfortunately com- pelled to leave for his home at Peter- borough on Thursday morning, having had a paralytic stroke on Wednesday night, and is likely to be unable to re- sume work for some time.
