That is further evidence that it is all that is claimed for it, viz.: that it is the finest military†band in England. And that means the world, for even the Germans admit that the British Military Bands excel all others. -. Lindsay expects a big time on the glorious twelfth, and extra accommoda- tion is being provided for visitors. Victor Kirkpatrick, at one time con- nected with the Dominion Bank at Lindsay, was drowned near Mimico on Saturday. Stratford Beacon : A younger son of Colonel Roosevelt, having been asked for an, estimate of his father, said: “ Well, it‘s just like this. When dad is at a wedding he'd like to be the bride, and when he‘s at a. funeral he‘d like to be the corpse.†A case came up at the last sitting of Port Hope Division Court in which a guaranteed sound horse proved to be unsound, and the buyer claimed $60 from the seller. The case was tried by ajury, who awarded the plaintiff $25, each party to pay his own costs. The Henley Falls Syndicate, which has acquired certain rights of the var- ious interests concerned in connection with the power privileges at that place have purchased the interests of the Peterboro Light and Power Company in connection with lighting with electricity and gas. They have also purchased the Auburn dam and power privilegeand will very shortly begin improvement and extension operations in the form of a new concrete dam at Auburn. It is reported that a. power house will be erected near the Grand Trunk Railway bridge and that a. raceway connecting it with the dam will be constructed on the west side of the river. The same syndicate has also purchased, the Burleigh Falls Power and the Peterbbro Street Railway. It is said to be their}- tention of this syndicate to erect an electrical transmissionlinc from Henley Falls to Peterboro, and also that several miles of new railway will be built in l‘eterboro and immediate vicinity this year,'and that the syndicate is search- ing a. ‘site for an amusement park to be established in connection with the radial railway the syndicate will oper- atU.‘EX§LflliflGl'.
