. Pcterboro’ Examiner: The Canadian Pacific Railway has secured an option on the Mount Julian hotel property at Stony Lake. There does not seem to be any doubt that the option will be util- izod. In this event it is more than prob- able that a large hotel will be erected. to accommodate the increased tourist traiiie of the. hikes. which the C. P. R.’s interest and enterprise will promote. This great Corporation does not do things in any half-hearted way; and we miy expect that the new hotel and the advertising the lakes will receive will give added importance to the “ bright waters and happy lands," the name l{a~ wartha stands for. it is said that the same railway has also secured an option on Oak Orchard, Pigeon Lake, which no doubt means another hotel to be fed with tourist guests by C. P. R enter- prise. -~¢â€"oâ€"â€"-- Minden Echo: The first burglary for many years in l-laliburton was porpo- trated last Saturday night or early Sunâ€" day morning, when the residence of Mr. Robert MeBrien was ransacked from at- tic to cellar. Tho thief or thieves pro- cured entrance by raising the kitchen window, and, opening the door from the inside, proceeded to work. From this apartment they took flour, bacon, soap and pies. They visited the cellar and helped themselves to blankets, and did not forget to turn their attention to the cellar, where a number of wellâ€"filled gems of fruit, of various kinds, and sy- rup were arranged in rows; here they made a careful selection, choosing the large gems in each case. They departed ’ with their booty, leaving the door and window open. But few marks were left to indicate their late visit. Something apparently was wrong with the engine, for the customary cometâ€"like speed of the airship had suddenly con- siderabl y slackened. “Good heavens!" cried the skipper. “We shall be half a second late!
