J UNE 22ND â€"Most of the Gelert people celebrated the Queen’s jubilee either at Haliburton or Minden. At ; Haliburton a cricket match was played in the forenoon; racing, jumping, etc., in the early part of the afternoon. The centre of attraction was, however, the return foot ball match between U‘elert and Haliburton, which began at 3.45 pm. After one of the liveliest and best exhibitions of foot bull playing ever seen in the north the result was a tie, one goal eat'h being scored. Mr. M. N ewall was referee, and seemed to give satisfaction to both sides. At Minden a grand picnic was held in the agricultural grounds under the auspices of the Oddfellows and Orangemen. The foot ball match between Minden and Stanhope resulted 1 to 0 in favor of Minden. A match was also played bl tween the Orangemeu and Othlfel- lows, in which the wearers 0f the orange had the best of it. Everyone seemed to enjoy the afternoon immensely.
