Ryley’s train and seriously if not ‘ fatally hurt. Thompson was not missed until the arrival of the train at Peterboro, when an engine with a party of searchers was despatched to find the unfortunate young man. He was dis- covered etnnding up against the embank- ment pretty badly shaken and very much dazed by his accident. He was at once placed upon the train and taken to Port Hope, where he was placed upon the ex- press and conveyed to his home in Toronto. Much sympathy is expressed for Mr. Thompson, as hells one of the meet popular and reliable young men on the line. Obituary. I It is our melancholy duty to record the death on Friday evening last, of Mr. John Anderson, in his 62 year, from an attack ofinflainmation of the lungs. Mr.Anderson was the senior member of the well-known firm of Anderson, l\lugent 00., and was one of the pioneer business men of Lind- The deceased was born in Lanark on May 3rd 1831, and when a ntice to the cabinet mak- ing business with a Mr. Hogg of Perth On Completing his time he worked at his trade in Toronto, Hamilton and Osgoode. In 1856 he came to Lindsay, and in the following year was united in marriage to MissJane'Langton, also of Lanark county, and the same year entered upon his career as a furniture dealer in this town. Many 1 reverses by Vi ay of fire and other business ‘ fatalities were met by Mr. Anderson in his thirty-five years of active business life, and ' were overcome by his great energy and enterprise. In all his dealings with the public a strict regard for honesty and up- :‘ightness was always maintained, and was characteristic of the man.
