A by-law has been passed by the town counCil enacting that all dry goods, clothing, millinery, fancy goods, boots and shoes,, groceries, stationery, jewellery, hardware, stores and butcher shops in Lindsay shall be closed on all evenings except Saturday at 7 o’clock; and on Saturday all stores above mentioned shall close at 10 p.121. sharp. This by-law comes into force on the 29th day of December inst., and will remain in force unl’l appealed. The penalty for a breach of the by-law- is $10. Householders who expect goods delivered on Saturday evenings should those interesting events tripping along at intervals in families where marriageable young ladies are to be found.
