Huntsville Forester: Mr. James Lucy has just returned from the woods, where he has been working in a camp some 38miles north east of Huntsville, and where he had rather an exciting time with a bull moose. One evening when returnâ€" ing to camp following the old main road, he happened to look suddenly up and Within 20 yards distance there stood one of the monarchs of the forest. a magnificent bull moose, his head lowered and bristles erect. Jim had no weapon of any kind other than a small tomahawk. The moose then came forward pawing the snow and earth up with his feet and shaking his head. Our friend then doged behind a tree, and repaetâ€" ed the precaution several times, the moose still watching him. Finally Jim gave three or four unearthly yells, but they had no effect on his lordship as he only shook his head more fiercely and threw up more clouds of snow and dirt, until Jim could scarcely see him. Then Jim says he saw his chance of escape as just behind him was a thick growth of small hemlock, into which he took a header. He then made up his mind to take tracks in another dir- ection, which he did. causing him to make a circuit of some 21/2 miles further than he otherwise would have done. Jim says there in 110} doubt in his mind about a moose? tracking a man at certain seasons of the year. Jim is not a coward, far iron; it, for w on more than one ocâ€" casion he has Saved life from drown- ing and wears a medal presented by the Royal Humane Society for conâ€" spicuous bravery in saving life, but upon this occasion he thought discreâ€" tion the better part of valor.
