Preparations are being made for an addition to the factory, which will remedy all troublefifigThe milk drawers have got a hustle on this season, and will not require mention in the instructor’s report of late arrivals of milk. Mr. Thomas Oliver comes next with a. neat drive barn, just finished. Io stands on a stone foundation and was built) by Mr. Oliver himself, and reflects great: credit to the builder. CAMERON. Mr. and Mrs. S. Wilson of Velentla paid our village a visit last week. Mr. Wesley Anderson had the {misfor- tune to have a cow killed by the trein last week. Our postmaster, Mr. Bryaon, is poorly. We hope he may speedily recover and be able to resume his usual duties. The Methodist people contemplate holding their S S. anniversary in the near future. Mics Minnie Cundal arrived home this week from London Normal School. She reports a. good and busy session and a very efficient stafi. The prizes in the Csledonian games at: Lindsay, July 2nd, are worthy of compe, tuion; gold chains, medals, silver and chlnaware, very finest quality. The Church of England people have started a Sunday school‘in connection with their congregation here. It meets in the morning before service. Mr. D. Lee is busy digging a. cellar for a house he intends building in the near future. John Westawey, too. is erecting a house on his firm east of the village. Prospects for crops were never better than this season. Everything, unless a few small pieces of fall wheat and some old meadows, has the appearance of being first-class. The trustees of 3.3. No. 6 here, have had a Page wire fence put around the school premises. When the gates are hung and the debris cleared from the yard its appearance will be greatly im- proved. Mr. Hunter of Lindsay had the con tract of fencing. LORNEVILLE The Rev. P. Currie, Toronto, will occupy the pulpit on Sunday, the 24th inst. The crops in this neighborhood are promising an abnndanbharvest. Thanks to providence by the farmers. If yOu never spent: a cent on a. holi- day, do so now; the object is a. most worthy one. Open your hearts and your pockens wide. Iuly 2nd at Lind- The Rev. A. E. Duncan will dispense the c0mmunion of the Lord’s supper in Eldon St. Andrew’s church on Sabbath, July 1st, rather than Sabbath 24th inst., as at first expected. Our Sabbath school picnic to Bea- verton on Thursday of last week wasa decided success, being well patronized. All came home well pleased with the day’s outing. A few took in the excursion by steamer to Barrie on that v-â€" v __ day, and réporb a. delightful 89.11 on that delightful lake, Simcoe. Quite a. few from our suburbs took in the I.0.0.F. excursion to Mnskoka last Wednesday and report a splendid time, all having enjoyed the trip immensely and credit it the best of the season. The cheapness of it is indica- tive of the extensive patronage purpos- ed or expected by the committee in charge. Muskoka is noted for its scenery and righbly so. EAST MANILLA Mr. E. T. White, B.A., is the holidays. Mr. Thomas Jewell has ready for the frame. There will be a program, commencing at 2.30, consisting of readings, recital: ltations and Speeches by the pastor, m has been weeks visiting 18 home for his barn liIANILLA Miss Ada Squires' is also visiting friends here. A few nights ago Mr. Nelson Barker heard a commotion in his yard, and on getting up to investigate, saw a couple of dogs worrying his sheep. In the morning he found that a fine ewe had been killed by the dogs. It was but a few weeks before that his brother, John Barker, had a sheep killed and another badly torn by some wandering curs. It IS a shame that farmers who raise sheep should have them worried in this manner, and those who own dogs which are known to wander around the country at nights, should lock them up, or better still, tie them with a slip knot to the beam of the barn. Miss Glendenning of Vroomanton was the guest of her cousin of “Rose- bank Farm." Mr. Ralph DeLury 01 Toronto Un- iversity returned to his home last week for the holidays. Keep the date before you, Monday July 2nd, I.0.0.F. demonstration at Lindsay ; great) event). Rev. Mr. McQuade and others. Music will]; be furnished by Peniel choir. Tea will be served from 5 to 7.30. Extensive building operations on the respective tarms of Messrs. Thos. Short: and Thos. Jewell are unmistak- able signs of the “growing time.” Our gardeners, Messrs. Ranous, Bread and Smith, are busy picking and supplying their customers with strawberries. All the available pick' ers are engaged. Mrs, Tremble, formerly a resident of this place, but who a few years ago moved away to the state of Ohio, is at present visiting friends and renew- ing old acquaintances here. Miss H. Mintern reburned on Thurs- day last, in company with her cousin, Miss Della Mintern of Michigan, at whose home she has been visiting for the past) five months. Mr. D. B. MacQueen and W. L. Coone took advantage of the opening the ’lunge fishing season on Saturday last, but we have seen no tangible proof that the fish took advantage of the chance of being caught. SON YA. Innes, of this place. passed into another state last week by taking to himself a wife in the person of Miss JohnSOn of Ashbnrn. A number of near relatives from here attended the ceremony. We wish Mr. Mrs. Innes every prosperity in their married life. A letter was received here last week from Mr. Alfred Gorst, formerly well known in this locality, from the seat of war in South Africa. Mr. Gorst was in Australia when the call for volunteers was made. He enlisted in the Queensland Mounted Infantry and was soon promoted to the position of sergeant in that corps. Should he be spared to see the end of the conflict he intends visiting Canada again.
