The services of both morning and even- ing were conducted by Rev. Youngo Port Hope, and those who missed hearing Mr. Young preach missed two of the best discourses that have been delivered in our village for a long time. Mr, Young is an eloquent and attractive speaker and Cambray Methodist church was certainly very fortunate in securing his services. On Monday evening the annual supper was served to a goodly number, considering the very bad night. I: is useless to say that it was good be- cause nothing else is ever served in Cambrav and the ladies deserve much credit: but the beauty of it is that the girls can cook just as well as their mothers. The chief attraction of the entertainment was Mr. Young’s lecture on “Success in Life and how to attain it,†which was in itself worth the price of admission. The music was supplied by Lindsay’s best talent. â€"â€"Peat. manufactured by Alex. Miss Lizzie Jackson and Miss Maud Wood have returned item their week’s visit in Port Perry. They report a. good time. We are very sorry to learn that Rev. J . McKenzie. who has so ably ï¬lled the pulpit of the Presbyterian church for three years, has tendered his resignation which onlv needs the sanction of the presbytery to place the Cambray and Oak' wood circuit without a minister. Mr. McKenzie came to us as a young minister unacquainted with the difï¬culties which assall even a minister and he has succeed- ed even beyond expectation 1n placing the Cambray and Oakwood circuit on a footing it never knew before. If the presby tery sanction his resignation we will lose a good citizen and an elcquent preacher. Miss Williamson of Lindsay is the guest of Mrs. McKenzie. Mr. Byran Blake. of Rochester, N.Y., has been visiting Mr. Barry Rogers. Miss Addie Anderson of Oakwoodis the guest of Mrs. Will Weldon. Rev. It is doubtful if another woman in Canada would have been able to stand the severe shock to which Mrs. Gowanlock was subjected at the time when her husband was shot down by her side and she was thrown into an Indian camp to suffer the many hardships that must necessarily follow, and the fact that she has been able to stand the shock thus received for the past ï¬fteen years is evidence of a strong constitution . It was ï¬tting that on this auspicious occasion a piano which has gloriï¬ed the name of Toronto abroad and which is a production of the city’s highest musicial genius and scientiï¬c skill should be selected. Once more the famous Heintz- man 8: Co’s. piano was assisting in making the opening of Toronto‘s new City Hall memorable among all those who heard its splendid strains. Throughout the long- drawn corridors, and ï¬lling the spacious court-room, the notes of Toronto’s and Can- ada's greatest piano evinced all the ï¬ne qualities of this grand instrument. Its dy- namic excellence, its soft singing notes. its sweet bell-like tones were appropriate to an historic event.
