Mallon. that veteran inâ€" dustry hunter. has located another quarry. He has discovered a firm of woodenware manufacturers in Western Ontario. that is seeking a location Where the raw material is available. Their letter remixed by Mr. Mlallon recently justifies the imâ€" pression that a. suitable location is a present problem with the firm and rouses the hope that they may soon join the procession that of late has set in towards this town. Our proxâ€" imity to good timber, cheap electric power. fine water and railway fac- ilities and the concessions the town will make to a good concern make Lindsay a place that this firm may well investigate. His conneCLion with producing former new industries and the diligence with which he still holds the trail makes it possible that ‘Mr. Mallon’s services to the town ‘as an ex-alderman will equal those of his terms in office. â€"Bo,ys must have clothes, hence we keep a large variety. There are only two county coune cillors for six townships, and we think we can manage the roads our- selves better than they can. Then we do not want to go into a scheme that will increase our county rate so much. That is we are not in favor of raising so much money at the present time. Besides, we think the people should be given a voice as to whether the money shall be raised It ought to be submitted to the peo- ple at the January elections or before the $60,000 is raised. The ease proceeded through all its initial stages and was to be tried at the court in session this week. At the very last moment Mr. Cody agreed to publicly admit that he had circulated a falsehood about this paper. This he has done in the following words : About the 20th a circular addresâ€" sed to the farmers and signed by Mr. (Jody was distributed throughout the Country. It referred to the parade and declared that an extended ac- count of it did not appear in the locâ€" al papers because the writer was "un- able to get access to their columns, (Wen by paying for it.” It also spoke of opposition firms and said that they. "can see to it that the success of our business does not reach you through the local papers and have done so this time to a‘niCety." 1t told the farmers that if possible they would be prevented from buying Mas- seyâ€"Harris goods at all “by the same authority which has succeeded so well in having the report suppresâ€" sed,” and declared that “a ‘power behind the press’ saw {it to forbid a report of it (the parade) through the Lindsay papers.” On the'strength 1»‘A" ‘I of this alleged 'injustice Mr cdd'y ur- ged farmers to ”resent. the way \ou and your agents have been treated in this matter." province .‘ Two Dcsirable Residences for Sale in the North Ward Brick cottage, 8 rooms, large hall, good cellar, furnace, ample grounds, etc. A desirable home. .â€" ,â€" “Xew brick twoâ€"storey cottage. 1 rooms, summer kitchen, good cellar, woodshed, etc. fin; abeve residences are in very desirable locations.
