Baum: and the Ontario Deminent of Agriculture are co-operfiting "in running a. couple of de- monstration cars over the C. P. R. lines in Ontario. The route will'be about the same as that foliowed two years ago last spring and nearly all the points to be visited were included in the former it- inerar3.'1‘_he result follouincr the in- struction of twoyears auo, and the 31’ predation shown by the farmers, leads us to anticipate a. very successful serit‘S of meetings, especially since plans have been made to hold evening meetings :11 most places, when a leading feature win be moving pictures. Agricultural histruction Coaches The work will begin in October 4th and continue until )Lovember 15th. Thirty- seven places will be visited, a whole day being spent at each point. At mo‘ft places the cars will be open for inSpection from 10 o’clock until 5 or 5.30. Please see special announcements as to the time to be spent at each place. Not only the farmers, but the women . and children will find much of interest in the exhibits and literature to be distributed. All should be deeply interested in the evening meet- ings. . Live Stock and Other Equipment The Live Stock Coach will contain animals exhibiting desirable characteriS- tics of our heavy horses, beef and dair‘s' cattle, poultry swine and sheep. Arrange- ments will be made at most points i0 have some stock belonging to the farmers in the locality concerned brought to the train to be compared with that furnishvd by the Department. Placing before the farmers typical animals of our leading breeds and comparing them with the best to be found in the local herds should prove very instructive. Une coach will be devoted to exhibits illustrating seed selections and improvement, identifica- tion of weeds, testing,r of seed, drainage, soil moisture, growing: of alfalfa, corn. insect pests, protection from lightning, dairyiug, poultry raising, etc. All far- mers should find much of interest and value in this demonstration car as “oil as in the judging,r of stock. Judging St0ck Capable, experienced men will denmn~ strate the judging of live stock each after- noon from 2 to 5 p. m. Raised seats will be provided, and, if the weather demands it. a tent will be erected so that the work can be carried on with comfort to both instructors and audience. School Children Invited Trustees and teachers are requested to allow pupils of the High school and the larger pupils of the Public sclJOols to visit the demonstration cars, say, in the late forenoon, or at such other time as may be arranged with the instrultors in charge. All children are invited to vieW‘ the moving pictures to be shown at evening meettings, where electricity is available. ‘ ’ Apply to any C. P. R. Agent for full particulars or write M. G. Murphy, District Passenger Agent, Toronto. All Should be Interested The horse-breeder, the beef-prodm-cr- the dairyman, the sheep farmer, poultry- man, and especially the the general far- mer, will find much of interest On the train and in the lectures given. ' he)" should prove more attractive than a reg- ular exhibition, because we will not have so much to see that the visitor will be- come confused, and besides there will he no counter attractions. We shall hope to spend together a very profitable day devoted to agricultural matters. At most points the \Vomen’s institutes are planning for a special meeting in the afternoon. and a joint meeting:r will be held in the evening. Townspeople Should be Interested Merchants, manufactures, financiers. public officials, and others not directly identified with farming, are coming.r to appreciate the value to. the country of the great wealth producers, the farmers: and we trust that many townspeople will visit the coaches and attend the evening meetings, which will not only be devoted to auriculture matters but also to health problems. ,LDLI . . §. Mc( ullou'rh, Secretary of the Provincial Board of Health, has arranged for a representative of his Department to operate the moving picture machine and to show on the screen m0vino' pictures illustrating: the production of milk and the necessity for controlling the fly nuisance. \Ve also have a number of moving picture lilms illustrrtive of up- -to- date Ontario auri- culture, which will be exhibited at the evening meeting. 1 .
